Statement by:  GOVERNOR JEB BUSH
Regarding Veterans' Day

"The fate of unborn millions will now depend, under God, on the courage and
conduct of this army. Our cruel and unrelenting enemy leaves us no choice
but a brave resistance, or the most abject submission; this is all we can
expect."

TALLAHASSEE - "With those words, George Washington reminded his soldiers
that the future of a nation rested on their courageous shoulders.  More than
227 years later, American soldiers continue to defend our freedoms, face our
enemies, and protect our nation.

"Veterans' Day gives us the opportunity to honor the service men and women
who have sacrificed to defend the security and ideals of America.  The day
is especially important in Florida.  The Sunshine State is home to almost
two million military veterans, giving us one of the largest populations of
veterans in the country.  We are extremely proud of our vets and are
grateful for their contributions to the character of our communities.
"Florida's veterans have served in every major conflict, provided essential
service to our homeland defense, and today serve as role models for a
younger generation just learning the meaning of commitment, honor, and duty.
As Governor of the great State of Florida, on behalf of millions of
Floridians, I offer sincere thanks to the brave men and women who have
served us so honorably."
