CORONER CONFIRMS ABORTION DRUG RESPONSIBLE FOR DEATH OF CALIFORNIA TEEN

San Francisco, Nov. 4 (LifesiteNews.com/CWN) - The Alameda County Coroner's Office has confirmed that the death of 18-year-old Holly Patterson, who died September 17, was due to septic shock resulting from a medical (drug-induced) abortion. The Washington Post reports that the Food and Drug Administration, which approved the drug in 2000, is "aggressively investigating the death," according to an agency official who spoke with the paper.

Monty Patterson, Holly's father, has lashed out against the "lackadaisical" use of the abortion drug. "My daughter went to the clinic a very healthy young woman, and a week later I watched her die in an emergency room," he said. "The entire system failed my daughter, and her pain was great. Nobody knew she was in trouble until it was too late."

Since RU-486 received US approval, Danco, the distributor of the drug, has reported 400 complications to the FDA. These include one woman who died from an ectopic pregnancy, another who suffered a heart attack, and two 15 year olds who contracted life-threatening infections. Another woman in Canada died from a bacterial infection.

Patterson said while he is not putting out a pro-life message he and his wife feel it is their duty to warn others about the "grave dangers" of the drug.
