April 23, 2005 -- The Honorable Jeb Bush, Governor of Florida, head of the U.S. Presidential Delegation to the Inaugural Mass of His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI, greets American cardinals at a reception in their honor held at Villa Richardson, the ambassador's residence of the U.S. Embassy to the Holy See. American cardinals and Archbishops were welcomed by Charge d'affaires Brent Hardt of the U.S. Embassy to the Holy See who acknowledged the cardinals for having discharged their solemn duty of electing a new pontiff, and conveyed his appreciation to Governor Bush and the U.S. delegation for representing the President and the American people at tomorrow's inaugural mass. Charge Hardt expressed confidence that the relationship between the United States and the Holy See would continue to thrive during the Pontificate of Benedict XVI, as both work together to promote human dignity.
