Practical Tips for Avoiding Porn
by LIFE TEEN
Whenever
Faced with Temptation to Sin:
1. Acknowledge that evil is present, and there is an opportunity to sin.
2. Pray that God would fill you with strength.
3. Act on that strength.
Avoiding Temptation:
Don't walk by the magazine stand, take another route down a different aisle.
Have your computer in the family room, no matter how inconvenient.
Have your monitor facing out, open to the room.
Remember, there is never a reason to close the door while you are online.
Never surf online alone at night. You are most susceptible to sexual sin when you are lonely, bored, angry, tired, or hungry.
Surround your monitor with grace! Tape up prayer cards and pictures of friends and family. Hang a crucifix close to your monitor as a reminder of how Jesus suffered for our sin. If you do stumble into something dirty, immediately look at the crucifix and pray for mercy.
Tape the "Prayer for Purity" on your monitor. Be proud of your prayer, because it could help someone else.
Turn off your computer.
Be honest with a friend: admit your struggle and become accountability partners. Make a promise to call one another when faced with temptation. Should you fall into sin, promise to immediately call your friend. It is humbling to know that you have to call your friend to admit that you fell just a few minutes ago.
