THE JESUS PRAYER

The Jesus Prayer is one of the oldest prayers in Christianity. It originates form the words spoken by the two blind men in Matthew 20:31. This prayer was formalized by the Orthodox Churches in the 5th Century.

To pray this prayer, breath in and say: "O Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God...", and exhale saying: "...have mercy on me a sinner!" repeatedly.

When breathing in "O Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God...", meditate on allowing Jesus to enter one's soul. When exhaling "...have mercy on me a sinner!", meditate on pushing sin out of one's soul.
