You know that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your fathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the Precious Blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot. -I Peter 1:18-19
Glory be to Jesus, Who in bitter pains Poured for me the Life-Blood From His sacred veins! Grace and life eternal Blest through endless ages

Abel's blood for vengeance Pleaded to the skies; But the Blood of Jesus For our pardon cries. Oft as earth exulting Lift we, then, our voices, |
The Most Precious Blood of Christ is an aspect of His Sacred Humanity. It is therefore hypostatically united to His Deity, and so can receive our worship, adoration, and love. When we pray to the Precious Blood, we are praying to the Person of Jesus Christ, our Savior, present in His Blood.
Prayer in Honor of the Precious BloodThe Seven Bloodsheddings Of ChristO Precious Blood of Jesus, infinite Price of our redemption and both the drink and laver of our souls, You continually plead the cause of all people before the throne of Infinite Mercy. From the depths of my heart I adore You. Jesus, insofar as I am able I want to make reparation for the insults and outrages which You receive from human beings, especially from those who blaspheme You and deny Your presence.Who would not venerate the Blood of infinite value?! Who does not feel inflamed with love for the Jesus Who shed It?! What would have become of me had I not been redeemed by this Divine Blood?! Who has drained It all from the veins of my Savior? Surely this was the work of Love! O Infinite Love, which has given us this saving Balm! O Balm beyond all price, welling up from the foundation of Infinite Love! Grant that every heart and every tongue may render You praise and thanks, now and forever! Amen.

In him we have redemption through his Blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace which he lavished upon us. -Ephesians 1:7-8Sacred Scripture mentions seven specific instances in Jesus' life where He shed His Precious Blood, relating to our salvation. Mother Church promotes a devotion to these "Seven Bloodsheddings" of Christ. They are:
Precious Blood of Jesus, shed in the circumcision, make me pure of mind, heart and body.Seven Offerings of the Precious BloodPrecious Blood, oozing from every pore of Jesus in the Agony, enable me to love God's holy will above all.
Precious Blood, flowing from the scourging at the pillar, inspire me with a sorrow for my sins, and a tolerance for suffering.
Precious Blood, falling in profusion from the crown of thorns, grant me a ready acceptance of humiliations.
Precious Blood, shed profusely in the crucifixion of our Lord, make me die entirely to self-love.
Precious Blood, shed to the very last drop by the opening of Christ's Sacred Heart, give me that generous love which sacrifices all for God.

"I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord" -Psalm 116:13As this was a hard saying for Jesus' hearers, so it is difficult today for many of our separated brethren. Yet Sacred Scripture tells us that Jesus truly gives us His Sacred Body and Precious Blood in the Eucharist:And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, "Drink of it, all of you; for this is my Blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins". -Mt 26:27-28
"For my Flesh is food indeed, and my Blood is drink indeed" -John 6:56
"The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not a communion in the Blood of Christ? This need not trouble our separated brethren. When we partake of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, we are not eating dead flesh or blood, since Christ is risen and alive forevermore (Rev 1:10). We are actually receiving the whole Person of our Risen Lord: His Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity! How wonderful it is to sacramentally partake of the ever-living, glorified Blood of our Risen Savior under the appearance of bread and wine. Praise you, Lord Jesus, for this tremendous Gift!
The bread which we break, is it not a communion in the Body of Christ?" -I Corinthians 10:16
"To Him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by His Blood and made us a kingdom, priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen!" -Revelation 1:5-6

The Hidden Treasure of the Precious Blood
ETERNAL FATHER, I offer Thee the most Precious Blood of Jesus
Christ in atonement for my sins, in supplication for the Holy Souls in Purgatory
and for the needs of holy Church.
The Precious Blood has been given to us as the Treasure of the Church which we may offer again and again for ourselves and for others. What can we call more our own in Christ's Sacred Body than His Blood, which He let fall to this earth from the Cross as the priceless endowment of our souls? And yet how few are those who know how to profit by it.
If you had in your possession all the heroic acts of the elect, all the sufferings of the Martyrs, the virtues and merits of all the Saints, even the merits of the Blessed Virgin Mary, all this would be like an atom of dust compared to the Precious Blood! Happy the soul who has found this treasure, the Precious Blood of Jesus, and who makes use of It.
To offer the Precious Blood of Jesus let us take It wherever we are, in all we suffer, in all we do, in all we feel of good or of evil, to sanctify the one and repair the other.
To offer the Precious Blood is to tell the Eternal Father:
Behold, I am nothing but weakness, corruption and misery, but I offer Thee the sanctity, the strength, the purity of the Precious Blood. I am cold, but I offer Thee the Precious Blood pulsating with the love of the Sacred Heart. I have fallen, I have sullied my soul, I offer Thee the Precious Blood of Jesus to expiate all.
In this manner, even the evil inclinations which we may feel will serve to enrich us, prompting us to make this offering of infinite value, which we should not otherwise have thought of.
It is not as severed from Jesus' Sacred Body that the Precious Blood is now to be adored and offered, but as It is, at this moment, within the living Jesus, in heaven and in the Blessed Sacrament. Therefore, the soul that possesses the Precious Blood has everything and desires nothing more.
The offering of the Precious Blood is of infinite efficacy. It begs remission for past sins or rather exacts it; It is a remedy against future sin; It returns thanks for all graces general or personal; It procures help from on high and brings comfort to the living and the dead.
The practice of offering the Precious Blood is most pleasing to God; because, through It, He is glorified in the most sublime and excellent manner.
St. Mary Magdalen de Pazzi, after a revelation on the value of the Precious Blood, adopted the practice of offering It 60 times a day for the living and the dead, and she said: "As often as a creature offers the Precious Blood by which it was redeemed, it offers a gift of unequaled and infinite price."
PRAYER TO THE ETERNAL FATHER
Holy and Eternal Father, behold I present myself before Thee, begging Thee to listen favorably to the supplication I most humbly address to Thy Divine Majesty. It is not in my name I pray, but in the name of Jesus Whom I have offended, and Who pardons me so mercifully. I substitute Him in my place. It is His Divine Blood which I present to Thee, O God of goodness, repeating a thousand times from the depth of my heart: Jesus Crucified is my reparation, I offer Him to Thee: Jesus Crucified is my Victim, my Holocaust, my Host, I offer Him to Thee; Jesus Crucified is my tender solicitude for sinners and my sorrow for their offenses and my own, I offer Him to Thee; Jesus Crucified is my prayer as His Blood is my voice, I offer Him to Thee; Jesus Crucified is my faith, my hope and my love, I offer Him to Thee; Jesus is my adoration, I offer Him to Thee. Jesus Crucified is my zeal for Thy glory and for that of His Precious Blood, I offer Him to Thee; Jesus Crucified is my surety, as His Blood is payment of all my debt, I offer Him to Thee. O Lord, look upon this God who annihilated Himself for Thy glory; and, for love of Him, forgive us all our sins; grant us an the favors which we solicit by the voice of His Blood and of His Wounds and arrest the course of outrages which is incessantly renewed against Him. Amen.
